DIFs for Game Level Prototyping!!

So if any of you have started utilising the ‘Luma Method’ of creating DIFs from 3DS Max 7 (see my Tutorials)… U may have found some other useful uses for them. If you have I would really like to hear what your uses are, so stick them in a comment here on the blog…

My new uses are pretty simple… prototyping of levels… my entire world is layed out simply & un-textured…. but contains everything that affects gameplay and everything that affects the ’simple’ look of the world.
Basically something round like a lamp post.. would simply be represented as a single vertical rectangle, no need to put anymore detail into it, because these will later be replaced with a DTS with all the texturing, effects & LODs needed. What it allows for you though, is to get the feeling for the levels… play them, test them, change them easily and without to much fuss.

Give it a bash, and see how it helps you!! :)
