Loosing Touch?!

I’ve been feeling it coming! The eventual loss of connection with creativity.
It seems to be pervasive in the game industry! Unless your job is specifically to be an artist, chances are you will loose touch with that artistic link!!

What do I mean?! Well as we draw closer to the end of our latest project, less time is spent beautifying the game, although at the same time the opposite could be said, because that’s all we seem to focus on.

Okay so this is a bad example… but you slowly begin to spend more time fixing bugs, finding collision issues, adding collision so lighting flares work properly, and just overall spend more time on the technicalities of gaming… instead of being an artist and thinking of texture, lighting, mood, the details!

Don’t get me wrong! I am actually quite comfortable sitting on the fence, between artist and technical wiz, but I wouldn’t mind falling off that fence onto the artistic side!
:)

ps. Orphaned Polygons in Torque – Part 3 of 3 is hopefully coming soon… just gotta get this project behind me!!! Also just as a teaser, I am currently working on my in depth Max2DIF art/tech guide! Yes, not just a techy tutorial, but some arty stuff too! Yay!!!
